Solid Wood

PRODUCTION CORE

Solid wooden furniture is the most valuable and requested from the luxury market. All our wooden furniture is made in Teak and only for the Suar collection we use Suar wood. There are many advantages to choose solid wood furniture: firstly it will never become old and could be easily maintained and repaired.

Teak

Teak is the most used material for our creations and it is the best wood for outdoor furniture, thanks to its features: durable, bugs and fungus free and high-temperature resistant. It grows in southern Asia, from India to Indonesia, till Vietnam. The natural oily resin keeps its primary features unchanged through the years, requiring a minimal maintenance. Our Teak, which has always been of the highest quality, is available in all our range of finishing for example: “Fine Sanded”, the most traditional finish for a material, such as this one, that requires no further treatment to enhance its natural beauty and improve its durability; or alternatively, or “Oil and Wax”, a totally natural finish, with no chemicals or coatings, that utilises the natural oil contained in the Teak and a clear wax to improve its resistance to water and other fluids. The choice is yours: a Vittoria bench, in a romantic grey colour with a rather nostalgic flavour, positioned in the centre of your garden, next to a flourishing strawberry tree; or an extendable table on your patio, ready to welcome your friends for an alfresco lunch, the warm honey colour of the Teak enhanced by the nourishing oil and protected by the wax.

Suar

These trees are easily recognized by their characteristic umbrella shaped canopy. Suar trees usually reaches heights of 50 – 80 feet. Its is a non endangered and fast growing tropical hardwood with a criss cross, interlocking grain which reduces the possibility of cracking occurring due to climactic changes. Suar collection is defined by its large section of wood and reflects the chromatic differences of the wood grain. Available in Fine Sanded, Oil and Wax and Java Brown finishing.

The items made of Suar wood are characterized by large sections that enhance the aesthetic features, typical for the essence: enhanced chromatic differences between sapwood and duramen as well as the classical veinings.
The cracks are intrinsic features of this kind of wood, whose wide sections are chosen just to have evident splits along the vein, becoming themselves unique characteristics of the furniture. They are, in the end, limited with the insertion of tie-rods inside the levels. On request, it is possible to have them filled with clear or colored resin.
The Suar wood is long lasting and suitable for outdoor use and it is available in different finishings: the standard finishing is oiled, but it is possible to have it in natural, oil and wax finishing or in different pigmentation.

Maintenance

Teak furniture does not require any special maintenance routine apart from occasional cleaning. If left to age naturally outside by being exposed to light, air and rain, then the surface of the teak will gradually change to a soft, silver-grey as the pigments in the surface layer of the wood slowly start to fade away.
