Salone del Mobile di Milano 2019

This year again, from the 9th to the 14th April 2019, Il Giardino di Legno attended the 58th edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile in Milan. Established in Milan in 1961 to promote the Italian export of the furniture industry and its complements, the Salone Internazionale del Mobile is the leading event for the furniture and design sector. The numbers of the Salone are really remarkable: 210,000 square meters within the Fiera Milano area in Rho, 2,300 among the most dynamic and creative companies of the world market, more than 370,000 specialized visitors, about 70% of them coming from more than 188 countries all over the world, more than 5,000 journalists of the national and international press and about 27,500 people of the public in the weekend.

In the occasion of the fair, by now an international stage and a must-have for companies, professionals and visitors of the sector, Il Giardino di Legno presented to the visitors of the Salone two new collections: the DUAL collection and the RING collection of which you can see some photos.

The DUAL collection presents new combinations of teak wood and woven natural rattan: the natural fibre give a very warm visual and tactile sensation, but the square shapes of the wooden structure firmly connect this furniture to a more contemporary style. The name DUAL itself inspires to the “duality” of the materials used, wood and woven fibre.

The RING line is instead a collection of chairs and sofas in upholstered fabric. The fabric confers them a round and extremely soft shape, just as if the structure of the chairs would be embraced by the covering material. In contrast with the Boxer collection presented last year, this line “wraps” the round section wooden structure, making it almost invisible.

Each project is conceived through a careful choice of materials and surfaces, volumes, solids and voids in a mutual relationship. Concerning the SPA projects, they have received several awards and prizes, including the 1st prize in the Grand Prix Casalgrande in 2007 and a special mention at the Wellness Design Awards 2008.
