Petrified wood is the name given to fossilized remains of terrestrial vegetation. It is the result of a tree having completely transitioned to stone by the process of permineralisation. All the organic materials have been replaced with minerals mostly silicates such as quartz, allowing them to be preserved along the different geological eras while retaining the original structure of the stem tissue as well as the concentric rings and traces of the worms, once living in the trunk. Every single piece is unique, but we supply it with bark or polished and cut on the customer's requested size.
